Humble Beginnings

12 years ago Bilal drops. Confirms the love and passion to do music…but I can't sing for shit!  Same month Dames comes by the crib to visit my best friend (at the time) & hears my frog voice. Says we one in the same with writings on a single page..whaaa??!?! Can we team..?!? Son, I don't even know you like that ---- but yeah without a doubt! We’re super young in two separate states so this is destined to work… Should we have a gang logo...TRU!! Summer time we link.  I beat box, he sings...damn bruh sounds good.  

A lil  older now, we doing the same shiet in front of friends...except Ds writing some tuff shiet now AND playing the damn piano too!?!? WTF,  I'm fixing to b obsolete...but quik question - Why write a Song about washington Avenue in Philly?! Is the place really that popping?!?! - His response - he writes an acapella diss record called "L.A.I.Ks vocAls are wak " - I still got it on my computer.

Baby Steps

Fast forward a tad - I'm writing and singing too but only in the bathroom mirror -wish i sounded like Marvin!  Yo Blak Boi? we gonna do this seriously now that we done wif skewl....yes!!! But wait and watch while this 9-5 consumes me - plus i cant even play an instrument, K? Dame ends up linking up with some producers in Phila---"we partners but I gotta make moves if we gonna eat."   Lemme show you to use this piano with ur fruity loops....in the mean time what you think about this track?  It's iight but it ain't u bruh...it don't sound tough enough.  HOPE YOU’RE STILL FOLLOWING?!!

8 weeks pass...a couple of theory readings online later  and I'm playing the keys like a novice pro! Give me that song u wrote..'.Eazy with me' and I'll flip it! Dame listens - Haha that ish is dope. Ey yo, I'm doing this show in Philly, let's do it there...you sing the first verse...I wrote it for you! The Come-up

Been working on some tracks.  Particularly this beat titled "Lucky"...write to it.   Dame says I'll get to it ..I'm working on my album.  Damn homie 2 years and that ish ain't done. Nah things aren't working out.."DAMN I feel like i'm farther behind than where I started! Whats up with you? Wifey got me this MPC for my birthday and I've been banging on it for some time....peep this, I'm gonna do your album..I'll learn as I go along.  Iight lets make it happen - 20 tracks in 20 days? Bet!!! ! Every Saturday, 7AM, are you serious? Why are you knocking on my door this early? You sleeping while I’m making your songs?  OK AND? Its 4AM can you go home already? Why you Quantize my Piano notes...because look what quantize did to the strings on "In your eyes." You right.  I need the bass on this track to be like that song on Lauryn Hills track.  Can you sing on it with some passion like D. Ruffin?  You sounding too soft son.  Damn I hate the way this song sounds...Can we drop it...Yes...matter fact No!  I'll do some Vocal Melodies on it "THANK YOU"!  Damn kid....4 years and a couple of days and we just finished 10 tracks out of the 30 plus...but they good though!  What do you think about this as our gang logo.  Werd..but why does your letter need to comes b4 mine.  D.L.?  I'll be damn if thats the brand.  Use my Gov.  D.O. ok cool.

The Finale and Future

I love you, I hate you. Dame, I want to do more tweaks..,,Nah kid we are DONE!  But it could be better....I know it can...wait to the next album we gotta get relevant now.  Real talk I couldn't have done it without you...no matter how evil you are....yeah but you gotta shoulder the burden...You have to make this come to life.   Dont worry L.AI.K....I got you!  Few months later.. Dame says all you gotta do is show up June 4th we releasing D.O and the album.  We did it, get ready you’re up next.  So far the path of travel, so much farther to go and not even half way there.  Along the road, growth and stronger desire to get their than b4.  Did you know many of life's failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up?  PREACH.
